random bits from lake cedar rapids.

when i look outside and see the sunshine, it's very bittersweet.
there are over 9,000 people who can't enjoy this day.
the cedar river did crest today and is said to be going down, but reports are indicating that that's not visibly evident.
they are saying it could take well over a week for the river to go down.

we drove as far as our house yesterday to see if we had water in the basement. downtown was heavily policed and many parts of the city were under military control. we live several blocks away from the river, but streets were flooded as close as two blocks away from us. this was a shot of our street and sidewalk.
